Overview
AWARDS
It is easy to decide if a volunteer deserves a long service award just by checking service records. It is not as easy to recognize people for the quality of their service.
There are many Scouts Canada awards that recognize the value of a Scouter's efforts. You can help Scouting recognize people who deserve these awards.
These words describe the quality of service a volunteer gives:
- enthusiastic - dedicated - leader - example - initiator - creative - innovative - inventive - organizer - valuable - ambitious - motivated
If you know a person which any of these words describe, the Honours and Awards Committee wants to know about them. Please complete and return the "Application for Outstanding Service to Scouting" form to the Council office - Scouts Canada, 15 Terra Nova Road, St. John's, NL A1B 1E7. (This form is available at
http://www.scouts.ca/media/documents/service.pdf.
PINS
Every year, requests for service pins and awards increase significantly. We are sure some leaders' years of service may be overlooked.
Why not take the time to review those leaders with your group to see if they are eligible for 5, 10, or 15 year pins.
The application form is available at:
http://www.scouts.ca/media/documents/longservice.pdf
Complete a form for each person, and forward the forms to Scouts Canada, 15 Terra Nova Road, St. John's, NL A1B 1E7.
Remember, service as a Scouter in another country recognized by the World Bureau and/or adult leadership service in Girl Guides is recognized for service awards after three years of service with Scouts Canada.
