Associates of Scouting

What is an Associate?

An Associate is a Friend. Someone who is interested in the objectives of Scouting and will help make them happen. Someone who may simply want to renew or to continue the friendships made while working in Scouting in years past. Perhaps you have wanted to renew old contacts and re-live the "good days". Maybe you would like to be kept informed about the progress of Scouting in Newfoundland and Labrador. You may wish to support present and future Scouting programs through a direct financial donation.

Whatever your interests, Associates of Scouting exists to promote continued fellowship through the brotherhood of Scouting and to find ways to help Scouting grow - TOGETHER.

You will help
3,000 - youth members presently wearing the Scout uniform;
1,000 - uniformed leaders, committee members, service team and council members presently giving freely of their time and energy to provide Scouting for these youth members;

Plus thousands of youth members who will be able to participate in Scouting because our programs will continue to be available throughout the province.

How will you help?
By accepting this invitation to participate, your annual donation will help provide the services necessary to help Scouting grow, both in quality and quantity in this province.
Scouts in Newfoundland and Labrador are doing more than ever before to help themselves and to finance their own programs. Some costs are beyond their abilities.

Will you help them?
You receive:

a wallet-size Associates of Scouting card;

a receipt for income tax purposes;
The appreciation of our youth.

How it operates

The Associates of Scouting is not a working organization; your annual contribution/membership is your means of supporting Scouting. As an Associate, you will not be expected to attend meetings, or otherwise assist in the operation of the program. However, if it is your wish, we would welcome your active involvement.

Why it's needed
Presently, almost 3,000 youth in almost 200 communities in Newfoundland and Labrador enjoy Scouting's programs: Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers. Almost 800 uniformed leaders give their time and talent to provide the opportunity for youth to camp, hike and attend regular meetings and special activities. Many other volunteers are members of fundraising committees, group committees, service teams and councils - each contributing their time and effort to enable the Newfoundland and Labrador Council to continue its mission to young people in our province.

As a Sustaining Associate of Scouting, you can help assure these programs continue.
