Newfoundland and Labrador Jamboree "Camp Karluk" In Celebration of Capt. Bob Bartlett Friday, June 26 to Monday, June 29, 2009 Camp Nor'Wes Program Highlights For all Opening ceremony and fireworks – Friday evening Camp Karluk Idol Contest – Saturday or Sunday evening Wide game – Monday morning Closing Ceremony – Monday morning Camp newspaper with camp news and competitions with prizes, Groups will rotate through a series of activity sites. These include: Crafts, rock carving, mud, beachfront, canoeing, orienteering, waterslide, rock climbing, fly tying. Groups will rotate through a series of activities. These include a day-long hike with activities and lunch en route, canoeing, orienteering, waterslide, mud, rock climbing. The Venturer program is centred on a 30-hour, overnight challenge trek. The trek will include mountain biking, river canoeing, hiking and rafting over a distance of at least 40 km. Activities will be offered en route such as orienteering and other skill-testing events. Participants will depart on Saturday morning and arrive back in camp late on Sunday afternoon (before supper). |
