This jamboree-type summer camp will mark the centennial of Captain Bob Bartlett’s 1909 expedition to the North Pole. All registered Cubs, Scouts and Venturers, as well as their leaders, are encouraged to attend this camp. The site will be Camp Nor’Wes, the Provincial camp site near Port Blandford, from June 26 to 29, 2009. Separate programs are being developed for the Cubs, Scouts and Venturers.

This three-night event will be a self-contained camp. Groups must therefore bring everything required, including all food and camping gear. Youth and their leaders will camp on the permanent tent sites and not on the large fields. The program will start on the evening of Friday, June 26 and end around noon on Monday June 29.

The registration fee for youth members and adult leaders will be $75.00 per participant. Groups may recruit non-registered adult helpers to assist with non-program activities, like cooking. A fee of $30.00 will be charged for these helpers for camp memorabilia. Offers of Service are also invited from Scouters and others willing to assist with program delivery. A fee of $75.00 will be charged to Offers of Service to cover the cost of meals and camp memorabilia. Individuals who are not registered Scouters are subject to Scouts Canada screening processes for non-registered adult helpers.

Program suggestions consistent with the Capt. Bartlett theme are welcome. Please contact Lawson Dickson, Deputy Camp Chief, Program at lawsondickson@gov.nl.ca with your suggestions.
